Fuel Tank Preparation
The fuel tank seemed quite a straightforward job. The fuel pump mounts directly with the supplied fittings. The fuel filter I mounted using a large cable tie cradle and a large jubilee clip that gave a very firm mounting.
When screwing the brass fuel fittings into the pump, I secured and sealed with some appropriate loctite.
One area that needed a bit of fettling was the mounting of the fuel filter. Using the original hole on the tank bracket the fuel filter was very close to clashing with the chassis. I decided to drill a new hole in the bracket to move the filter up slightly to avoid the clash. A quick dry fit illustrated a good clearance.
The last job was to fit the appropriate electrical connector ensuring the correct orientation for the factory loom. I need to buy some better crimping tools, I mashed a couple of the spade connectors before getting a good crimp.
The fuel tank gets bonded in place, so I decided to leave that job until later when I am fully happy with the whole of the rear end.
